HOW LIFEPOINTE BEGAN

In 1997 while Patrick was guest speaking in a Bible College and Church in Heidelberg, Germany, God stirred a dream to plant a church. The image was of a church that was captivating, relational, competent and empowering. A church designed for Jesus to be the center point of everything, where people belong, whether they are an explorer of Jesus, or a fully devoted follower of His. A church to inspire people with a lifetime of increasing, unforgettable encounters with Him. A church where Sunday worship experiences are captivating, fun, and encouraging—Resurrection parties—with laughter, excitement, and energy. Where dynamic speakers share topics of relationships, health, favor, encouragement, hope, and dreams through the lens of Christ's Redemption. A church where the marginalized find courage to receive the miracle love of God in a supernatural context. Where Jesus is experienced, not just referenced as a form of philosophy; where his experiential grace transforms marriages, parenting, careers, and purposes. A church designed to help everyone take an easy "next step" in discovery of this amazing Jesus-narrative.

After returning from Germany, Patrick shared the dream with Tina, his wife. Together they prayed, meditated, and followed peace as they imagined what this church would be. As the dream continued to grow and gain clarity, Patrick felt drawn to Johnson County, Kansas—even though he had no ties to the area—and in 1999, Patrick, Tina, and their two young boys embarked on a "spy out the land tour." As they drove through the area, their hearts filled with joy and excitement at each person they saw. Would that person be someone whose life would be changed forever, or someone that would become a lifelong ministry friend?

The tour cemented the dream in their hearts, and in 2000 Patrick and his family moved to Johnson County. By this time the church had a name—LifePointe—taken from Jesus` words in John 5:39-40, "You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me". After arriving, Patrick held evening Bible studies to gather people who would become the nucleus of this new church. On Easter 2001, LifePointe was birthed as they held their grand opening service!

Fast forward to today. Olathe, Kansas, USA. The dream continues to unfold. Throughout the many years LifePointe has existed, this life-giving message of Jesus has produced multiplied stories of transformation. Times of unforgettable encounters await. It's time for new hope. It's time to discover dreams. It's time for empowering purpose. It's time for the REAL JESUS and the POWER OF REDEMPTION!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

LifePointe Church is an inclusive church for all people! What that means is that we hold to Christian orthodoxy’s non-negotiable tenets while honoring those who are processing their growing relationship with Christ. We hold as fact that the Bible is true, there is only one God, Jesus is the only way to God, hell is real, everyone has sinned, sin destroyed the mutual bonds between God and man, and Jesus holds the unique right to restore people to intimate relationship with God (salvation). We realize that culture, politics, traditions and lifestyles are often counter to Biblical positions. Our goal is to magnify an experiential relationship with Christ, expecting the rich reward of bonding intimacy to mold a person’s ethics and evolving standard of truth revealed in Scripture.

LifePointe holds to “essentials” in the Christian faith. We also have convictions about, lead and promote various “non-essentials.” Essential doctrine refers to the non-negotiables (doctrines) of basic Christian faith. Essentials are what we believe is the bare minimum to authentic Christian faith. Non-essentials refer to the negotiables (doctrines) that we hold dear as a leadership team but are unnecessary prerequisites to relationship with Christ. So in essentials we desire unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things we pursue charity!

CHRISTIAN ESSENTIALS

The Bible - The Scriptures, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and infallible revelation of God to mankind. The Bible is the supreme and final authority on all matters of faith and conduct. We accept the Bible as the revealed will of God, as the all-sufficient rule of faith and patience, and for the purpose of maintaining the general unity of all our statements of faith.

God is One (Trinity) - The one true God has revealed Himself as the “I Am,” the Creator and Redeemer of mankind. God is one in essence and three in person (this is known as the doctrine of the Trinity). God is revealed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is God - The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death, resurrection and ascension to the right hand of God. Jesus was more than a good teacher and moral leader. As Messiah He is and always was God. No other world-religion (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.) leads to God. Jesus is the only access people have to an intimate relationship with God the Father.

The Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is God and lives within every believer. He is a person with real personality traits to be experienced by a relationship with Him. He is the person who applies the Saving work of Christ to a sinner’s heart. He is a tremendous source of assurance, comfort, strength, wisdom, guidance and miracle power. The Holy Spirit provides "gift" empowerments to and through the Believer to capture the hearts of the broken and unengaged. Believers are also privileged to engage Spirit-inspired devotional-prayer languages by the grace of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers healings, miracles and other supernatural signs as a normal part of the disciple's life.

Humanity, Sin and Salvation - Man was created good and upright; however, man voluntarily rejected God’s ideal plan, and consequently, became spiritually dead and banished from God. Man's only hope is through the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, demonstrated at Christ’s crucifixion. Salvation, or being justly restored to full intimacy with God, is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace. This work of grace empowers an individual’s voluntary faith (demonstrated by repentance) to accept the free gift of Salvation. Jesus Christ is the only way to a personal relationship with the God. Humanity cannot morally achieve intimacy with God by good deeds. The justice of God can only be legally satisfied, which is required for intimacy with Him, by accepting Christ’s redeeming work on his/her behalf (Salvation). Without Salvation man is destined for a final eternal condition separated from God. This eternal condition is called Hell, with intense suffering resulting from the full separation of all the good attributes in God. Eternal good, fun, love and peace can only be experienced in the span of God’s presence. Hell voids all that is good out; that is the primary context of Hell’s torment.
