Our Story: Who Is LifePointe?

HOW IT ALL BEGAN…

Our founding pastor, Patrick Norris, had been a guest speaker in hundreds of churches around the world when in 1997 he sensed God leading him to start a new church. After a few years of gestation and preparation it became clear that the Johnson County area of Kansas would be where this dream would happen. It was in November of 2000 that the Norris family moved to Overland Park. Beginning from scratch it was television advertising that announced the launch of a new church and invited people to an information meeting. 37 people attended that inaugural meeting that eventually led us to our Grand Opening in April 2001.

WHERE DID THE NAME “LIFEPOINTE” COME FROM?

The term LifePointe, while giving broad ramifications for everything that has to do with the centralized point of successful life, is taken from Jesus’ words, "You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me (John 5:39-40 NLT)!” The dream of LifePointe is to change lives here on earth and give a radiant hope for eternal life in heaven, making LifePointe Church the centralized “pointe” of a person’s life!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living.
  • God is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine.
  • Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all.
  • God has made a way for us to have intimacy with Him through Jesus Christ.
  • Grace is the only way to have a relationship with God.
  • God has allowed evil to provide us with a choice, God can bring good even out of evil events and God promises victory over evil to those who choose him.
  • The Believer has been given authority to live victoriously in life.
  • Faith is the only way to grow in our relationship with God.
  • Jesus is God showing himself to us.
  • Jesus is coming again.
  • Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now.
  • The Holy Spirit has grace “gifts” that He gives Believers.
  • Miracles, healing and supernatural Divine interventions still happen today.
  • Heaven and hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end.
  • The church is to serve people like Jesus served people..

Patrick and Tina Norris

For 17 years, Patrick Norris has helped change the lives of countless people as a guest speaker around the world in churches, conferences, and seminars. In 1997 Patrick and his wife Tina sensed God leading them to start a new church in Overland Park to be the spiritual pointe for successful living. In 2001 that dream came true as LifePointe Church was launched with God's favor and a lot of fanfare. Through strong teaching, a personal intimacy with God's Holy Spirit and the "spirit of faith," LifePointe is becoming a Church of great influence that will creatively bring God's supernatural life to this region and the entire world!

It has been Patrick's passion to lead people into the life transforming power of Jesus Christ. Patrick draws from his own life to relate to others the success one can achieve through obedience to God. With stories, laughter, personal experiences and a strong impartation of faith he has the unique ability to speak directly to the heart.

Patrick's ministerial credentials include being a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has served as a Professor at Christian Life School of Theology, a regular guest speaker at many Minister's Training Institutes around the world and has sat on the boards of several churches across the country.

Patrick and Tina met on a blind date in February of 1990. Patrick asked for Tina's hand in marriage by July and the wedding culminated in December of that same Year.

Today Tina brings her years of experience in leadership, church operations, children's church and prayer to impart grace in the various ministries of LifePointe. As Patrick says, "She is the great stabilizer for everything we do. Her worth to our church can never be given the amount of recognition she deserves. She is beautiful, spiritual and smart!"

The Norris' have two children: Evan, age 11 and Mitchell, age 8.
