GO - Generosity Objective

What is the Generosity Objective (GO!)?
GO promotes the life-giving power of generosity. So many blessings happen in a person’s life as they develop their trust in God; none are more specific and profound as issues related to the material world. While resources will clearly help the LifePointe mission, the purpose of GO far transcends that and reaches into the heart. Generosity affects not only the one giving, but impacts the world and deposits eternal assets. We are very excited about what God is going to do in the lives of everyone who takes a courageous step of generosity!

GO also is a reference to the Great Commission that Christ gave all believers: Therefore GO and make disciples (Matthew 28:19). God has called us to BE disciples and to MAKE disciples. Disciple comes from the word discipline, or consistency. GO leads us to BECOME more spiritually consistent and to lead new Christ followers into the abundant life that consistency brings.

Three times a year (January, May, and August) we will invest 3-4 weeks to inspire and develop the spiritual grace of generosity! Generally, GO will gain momentum through sharing this vision during offering times each Sunday. In typical LifePointe fashion there will also be no-pressure encouragement through emails, videos, and Bible applications. We will be leading you to new levels in the grace of giving. We will be challenging spiritual growth with:
  • Vision
  • Calling for new found obedience
  • Connecting in relationship
  • Educating in personal finance management (stewardship)
Biblical generosity is the anti-thought of this world’s system. Maybe you have heard things like:
  • Why give to a church?
  • You plan to give HOW much?
  • Look at what you could do with that amount of money!
  • Do you know how much 10% is? There is no way we could give that!
These types of comments reveal the fears, resistance, and self-talk that rattles through our thoughts. For us at LifePointe, the church isn’t some stale organization; this is the living family of God called to reach people far from Him. While God could have accomplished this without us, He chose to bring us into ownership of the mission, using our resources touched by His grace.

We also know that so much of what God wants to do in our lives begins with surrender. Giving is a form of surrender, faith, boldness, courage, and humility before our Great God! (II Corinthians 9).

THE GOALS OF GO
We ask each of you to prepare your hearts for what God will lead you to do as a part of the Generosity Objective! We also give you permission to “sit it out”. I am confident GO will be a profound marker in your and your family’s lives.

We have established three GO goals we would like you to pray over:
  1. GIVE ONLINE – Pray, consider and, commit to making a one-time decision to obey God in giving by setting up an online giving account. You will be able to give automatically weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, you chose. From then on you will receive a communication that your account has been drafted, which means your obedience is being fulfilled without further action! At LifePointe, we feel this is the most effective way to disciple or create consistency in our members; disciple means disciplined one or someone who has consistency of behavior. Online Giving is a tremendous tool to establish your heart as a disciple of Christ!

    While we desire everyone give online with the consistency it provides, our goal is at least 25 ONLINE GIVING FAMILIES by the end of GO, Sunday, June 13. To sign up online go to www.mylifepointe.com/give.


  2. INCREASED GIVING - If you are new to God’s plan for financial giving, pray about increasing your current contributions by $15 a week. For some, the idea of 10% is more than they are ready to give. So we encourage you to take incremental steps. Start with $15 a week, or add an additional $15 per week. God’s grace will certainly be upon your steps of faith. We count that as a win for God and you! Read Malachi 3:10-12 to see God’s challenge and what will happen when you yield in full obedience to Him with the tithe. If you are a veteran giver, and you’ve experienced the blessing of the tithe, would you also consider expanding in this grace by increasing your giving by $15 a week? Clearly, to go to new levels of faith with God will stretch us to go to new levels of generosity!

    We would like to see at least 25 INCREASE GIVERS signed up by the end of GO, Sunday, June 13th.


  3. CONSIDER THE TITHE – Many of you are ready to launch into a new phase of your walk with God. For you, that courageous obedience is tithing (giving 10% of your full income). You really have no idea what lays on the other side of this for you and your walk with God. Begin by testing it out for a 3-month period and see what happens in your life (Malachi 3, God says “test me”)! It’s a “no-fail” promise from God!

    We desire to have 10 NEW TITHE GIVERS signed up by the end of GO, Sunday, June 13th.
